EFL is a form of therapeutic learning that incorporates horses and ponies into mental health and well-being treatments. This learning experience involves interacting with equines as well as grooming, hand grazing and general horse care.
EFL involves reflective and active experiences with horses, combined with coaching, theoretical discussion and creative activities.
The holistic nature of the work can lead clients to experience shifts in the way they view challenges. It encourages you to step into the unknown, to be vulnerable, and to open yourself up to new perspectives. You can then take the skills that you learn and integrate them into your life and can flow with the lessons that the horses teach you about yourself.
EFL sessions can benefit both children and adults and spending time with equines has benefited people from all walks of life over the years.
All EFL activities are done from the ground (there is no riding involved) and they can be adapted to different abilities. I will work closely with you to ensure that each of your sessions are tailored to your specific needs.
In a peaceful setting, we'll create a safe space in which you can open up, explore and experiment.
We can learn so much from horses, and time spent mindfully in their presence can help to spark ‘aha’ moments in which our theoretical knowledge transform into real understanding.
Simply spending some time one on one with equines can be calming and uplifting too, and the natural environment can be incredibly effective for everyone but particularly so for those who are experiencing a dip in their mental health, want to improve their well-being or are neurodiverse.
